Coast Members Return from Oz

Several Hibiscus Coast members have returned from basketball tournaments in Australia. Two players, Jaylen Gerrand & Marco Hofma, represented the NZ Koru Team; and Joe King and Jacob James represented the Basketball Pacific team.

Coast was also represented by two coaches (Jayson Johnson & James Ballinger) and one manager (Monette Gerrand) at the NZ Koru tour. It was an extremely successful campaign for Coach Jayson's U14 Koru Team (pictured) who won their title. This is only the third time that a NZ team has won a title in 24 years.

u15s Qualify for Nationals!

The u15s recently competed in the Zone 1 Premierships in Auckland and after 3 days of hard competition, the boys managed to finish 3rd, qualifying along with North Harbour, West Auckland and Auckland.  The team would like to thank their families and local community for their wonderful and valuable support.  The team is now busy fundraising to help with the financial burden of sending the team to Christchurch. If you are interested in assisting the team, please contact their Manager, Monette Gerrand on monette.gerrand@gmail.com. Go the Coast!

u13s Finish 11th at Premierships in Whangarei

The u13s recently competed in their Premierships in Whangarei.  They had 5 scheduled games over three days with a small but very eager squad of 8 boys.  In the short time that Coach Jayson took them the boys played extremely well and though they weren’t able to come away with a win – they did themselves, Coach and their parents proud.  They showed a lot of heart, good ball skills and maturity for their ages.  Everyone scored and in most of the games they were a real threat in the first half.  So please congratulate the boys when you see them – they did a wonderful job representing the Coast!

4 Players Invited to BBNZ Second Cluster

We have had 4 players invited back to the 2nd BBNZ Cluster.  Congratulations to Jack Castle and Alex Wheeler from the u13s and Jaylen Gerrand and Marco Hofma from the u15s.
